The product is used as external sheathing that provides a R-Value of 1.3, more than doubling the R-value of OSB and gypsum; and six times more effective than thermo-ply or other foil-faced paperboards. Builders may replace costly OSB and plywood corner bracing with T-Bracing and PREMIUM INSULATING SHEATHING.
To DA's point, doubling the insulation does not double the insulation value. If the R value is 2, U value is 1/2. Double the insulation (twice the cost) so R value is 4, U value is 1/4 or 0.25. Its half as good again, 50% improvement over the above at double the cost. Double it again (4 times the cost), R value is 8, U value is 1/8 or 0.125. Celotex GS5000 comprises premium performance PIR insulation bonded to 9.5mm tapered edge plasterboard and is available in a broad range of insulation thicknesses as thin as 25mm. This premium performance board allows for the installation of both the insulation and plasterboard in one operation, thereby reducing installation time. Lambda (λ) Value (thermal conductivity) Lambda value λ(w/mK) is a measure of the rate at which heat passes through a material. The units are watts per unit thickness per degree temperature difference across that unit thickness. Examples include Glass mineral wool Loft roll at 0.044w/mk, and Celotex GA4000 PIR board at 0.022w/mk. • 25mm Kooltherm – R Value = 1.35 o 25mm Celotex PIR – R Value = 1.10 (Too Low) o So use 30mm Celotex PIR – R Value = 1.35 (OK as the same) • 50mm Kooltherm – R Value = 2.75 o 50mm Celotex PIR – R Value = 2.25 (Too Low) o So use 70mm Celotex PIR – R Value = 3.15 (Higher so better!)
Celotex GA4000 insulation boards are manufactured from polyisocyanurate, and have low emissivity foil facings to aid with reducing heat transfer. The R-value denotes the resistance to heat flow – the higher the R-value the more insulating the product is. For the latest GA400 insulation board prices, click here. Celotex TB4000 insulation boards

Celotex TB4025 is targeted at cut-to-fit applications between rafters or joists and enables users to achieve lower U-values with a single layer of insulation than has previously been possible. It is also appropriate for use in floors and walls.

Celotex TB4000 insulation boards Typical Polyisocyanurate insulation R-Values Polyisocyanurate insulation products have an R-value of about R 7.04 to R 7.20 per inch. Shown in the photo, Celotex Thermax solid foam insulating board with aluminum foil facing. With a stabilized 3/4" air space on one side of this insulating board its R-value at 1" increases to R10.
